The Association of International Automobile Manufacturers, Inc. (AIAM) announced today that Kim Custer will be its new director of communications. Custer, a seasoned corporate communications executive, has extensive automotive industry experience managing public affairs, corporate communications, media relations and crisis management. In his new role at AIAM, Custer will help the organization reach policy makers, industry executives, and consumers with information about the views of member companies on issues important to the motor vehicle industry.

"Our members are at the forefront of the American automotive industry and the economy, and Kim's experience will help us communicate that success," said Michael Stanton, president and chief executive officer of AIAM. "Kim will contribute great depth to both our internal and external communications -- making him an excellent addition to our team."

Prior to joining AIAM, Kim Custer worked with Nanjing Auto Corporation where he implemented a media relations and public affairs plan to support the upcoming re-launch of the MG brand in Europe. For more than 15 years, Custer was in charge of communications for two AIAM members: Kia Motors America and Mitsubishi Motors.

"The AIAM member companies are the best in the business, and it's their proven success creating good jobs, building plants, and increasing their research and development operations in the United States that makes this so important," said Kim. "There are many challenges ahead of us, and I look forward to taking them on."

AIAM member companies have become the fastest-growing segment of the U.S. motor vehicle industry, investing over $35.5 billion in new factories and creating more than 92,500 new, high-paying jobs over the past two decades. AIAM members continue to fuel the growth in the industry with innovative, fuel-efficient vehicles that are in high demand.
